- SOUTHAVEN, Miss. (Reuters) - A woman rammed a car carrying children
into a building where President George W. Bush was campaigning on
Saturday, drawing a swarm of police in her wake before being dragged
away at gunpoint.
Oh my God!
Are the children OK?!
"The president
was never in any danger whatsoever," White House spokesman
Trent Duffy told reporters. "There was a vehicle that did crash
into the side of the building."
Oh. Well,
what about those that were in whatsoever danger?
Duffy said a
suspect was immediately detained and handed over to local law enforcement
officials. Television footage showed helmeted police officers surrounding
the dark car and struggling with a blond-haired woman who was pushed
to the ground and later led away, apparently resisting.
Wow. They
got this on video? That never happens! Any sign of those kids?
Police lifted
a young girl from the car and a boy was also led away.
Phew! God
Bless! Now that we know the kids are fine, just how close did
this woman get to the President?
Bush was in
his limousine at the time but was not close to the car when it crashed
into a loading dock area of the DeSoto Civic Center, Duffy said.
